Anne was the bossy older sister, I'm sorry did I say bossy? I meant kind and fond of giving us orders. (She would have my little brother, Will, serve her iced tea while she was reading in the recliner.) I was the mean older sister (I used to slap my brothers on the back of the head, that's why they turned out so well). Mikey was the rebel, if you weren't supposed to do it- he did it. (Don't feel bad for him like I'm casting him in a bad light. He repented of his ways- and he's always been my parents' favorite.) And then there's Will, he's the baby, need I say more? He's the guy that marches to the beat of his own drum, we all adore him.
I would say there was a time in all of our lives where we could have throttled each other. But I think that now we are all adults we have become friends. We even vacationed together. But that was a minor disaster that we won't repeat. Let's just say Mikey and I butt heads. He likes to do things his way, I like things my way. Tomayto/Tohmahto. He doesn't like being told what to do or when to meet or where. Even if it is just dinner at Cheddar's at 5pm. Eh, I must remember he's a big boy now. We also went with my mom and dad, who are divorced. So that makes it fun.
We have an app called GroupMe, it's an easy way for us all to stay in touch. Or share a picture, a random thought, or how Dad is calling all of us to let us know he's still alive. (Yes, my dad does that. What? Doesn't your dad call you every two weeks and say, Well..I'm still alive.)
Today we are singing Ironic by Alanis Morissette, everybody does a line. Well except Mikey-apparently all the heavy metal crap he listened to as a teen fogged his brain from knowing good music. You know, Paul and Mike's wife, Keisha, aren't joining in either. (Hmmm...)
Family is important. Family drives us crazy. Be thankful for the family you've got, because you didn't get a say in the matter anyway.
