There's a man that comes into his work place on a fairly regular basis. I don't really understand why cause like I said for the first 3 minutes or so I wasn't really paying attention because I was trying not to lose my inspiration for what I was about to write. This man, let's call him Tom comes in and chats it up with Paul and his coworkers. He's always telling them about how he goes to the casino and wins big like new cars and bs like that. So then he comes in a couple months ago and says, well l wanted to say goodbye. Turns out he has cancer in like seven different spots on his body and the doctor gave him six months to live. He says that every morning he wakes up and checks for a toe tag. (Insert Paul asking me if I know what a toe tag is. Yes. And I hope you do too.) Now Paul couldn't tell if he was being truthful cause he usually comes in and shoots the breeze. Then the next time Tom comes in, about a month ago, he tells how he's been selling his camper and stuff cause he's gonna die soon. He also has been taking chemotherapy and it is evident. Tom tells Paul and the office about going into Lowe's and how he was checking out and the lady started talking to him. Well Tom is an open book and so shares his life story and this lady asks, Can I pray for you? When she finishes there are like 6 people standing around Tom all praying for him in the local Lowe's. He breaks down crying. Then Tom comes into the office today and says, I went to my doctor's recently. The doctor came to him and said, you aren't going to believe this. The cancer is all gone except for a small spot on your lymph nodes on your neck. You don't have to check for the toe tag anymore! The man of course is super excited, he tells Paul, the only thing is that I sold all my stuff cause I thought I was gonna die.
I realize that me complaining about all the selfies on facebook doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if the 40+ year old dresses like her teenage daughter (but please stop). It doesn't matter if all I see on facebook is duck face. What really matters is that people have real life or death issues. There is a checkout lady at Lowe's who has her head on straight aware that praying for the man with cancer is more important than helping the next person in line. That the people who gathered around weren't too self-conscious to just walk away and hope her prayer works, but realized that praying together is more powerful cause Jesus said, where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am with them. Thank God for people who care, people who pray, people who do. And thanks Paul for coming in the middle of my blog and stopping me from ranting and raving and instead telling me an amazing story of hope and healing.
